I observedpottery artwork and was inspired by pots that looked like eggs with baby chick heads and feet coming out. I used a picture of a dragon/wyvern from Monster Hunter as a reference to create the tail for the handle. Observation was important to follow the deTAILS.
I envisioned functionality in my art. I used the tail's shape to turn the reference my art is making into an additional function for the ceramic piece. My idea partly came from the heads of the baby chick egg jars being used as the lid handles; using part of the art as a function.
I developed craft by practicing techniques like "score, slip, stick" to connect parts of the clay more effectively. I did not gain skill with familiar materials; I still had trouble smoothing out the surfaces to make it look good. I did not discover any new talent.
